Griffith doors and a girl with grit

Following from Dan’s lead in his post, Monday , I’m choosing a few doors from Griffith, NSW, for his Thursday door challenge, and including their War Memorial Hall and Art Gallery for Remembrance Day.

Griffith is in the Orange growing region of New South Wales, but it’s also an area settled by many Italians in the early years of its European establishment. A feature building is the Zecca, handmade Italian corner.

The City Library has a smart blue door

And then the War Memorial Hall and Art Gallery boasts not only a set of columns and glass doors, but a sculpture out the front of A Girl With Grit, paying tribute to members of the AWLA – Australian Women’s Land Army.

As it was the orange festival, I have to include a door made of oranges.

    1. I’m glad you liked it, Brenda. The Main Street was full of sculptures made from oranges. Perhaps I’ll have to do a post on the whole display. We’ll certainly go back there – it has a great vibe.

    1. That could be your subconscious, Frank, adding the bits of the story you remember, or the incredibility of such a huge sculpture being made of oranges. I plan to do another post showing more sculptures from the orange festival – they were mind-boggling.

    1. The Main Street was full of structures made of oranges by local groups. It was extraordinary, so I’m glad I could sneak in the carriage to your challenge. Well, sneak in is probably a stretch…
