For Dan’s Thursday doors, we approach the National Film and Sound Archives of Australia.

Housing over 4 million items, the art deco building dates back to 1930, when it was the Institute of Anatomy. The collection includes audiovisual materials from 1935, making it one of the first such collections in the world.
Entry is free, unless you want to see one of the curated features, but the small cinema shows themed material all day, and we saw a collection of tv programmes and ads from the 1960s and ’70’s.
Looks like an interesting place for a guy like me to love to find more about yesterday’s forgotten gems 🙂

Impressive all around, especially that one enormous door. I like the patio part too.

I used to take our daughter to a museum in New York that had old TV shows you could watch. She was familiar with some of the shows, but the commercials were amazing to her. This looks like a wonderful place to visit. Thanks for sharing!

I know what you mean. Our 31 yr old son was with us and his eyes popped at the commercials. He thought it was a comedy routine with inappropriate material.
