I’ve had trouble finding a name for this grass, or whether it’s a native. It’s short – 30cm high and the flower spikes are about 45cm long, with drooping heads.

If you know what it’s called, please let me know.

For more flowers and berries, see Cee’s FOTD.
Google Lens suggests it is Billbergia nutans / Queen’s Tears which is a Bromeliad. Rather spectacular.

Thanks, Jude. I found that after Jez and Graham agreed on bromeliad. I’ve got my doubts about using Google lens, so thanks, again.

Looks like a bromeliad to me too. Not sure which one though.

Thanks that’s a starting point at least.

Graham, I found out it’s a Billbergia Nutens, or Queen’s Tears bromeliad. Thank you for responding to the post.

I thought it looked familiar. I used to have one in my garden in Washington State several years ago.

Hi, Karen 👋 That’s a beautiful flower 😃 I did a quick image search & it came up with the bromeliads family 🤔

I appreciate that, Jez. I tried to use some flower aps but they wanted payment or couldn’t identify it. Google identifier wanted access to my gallery. Nah! I’ll try bromeliads.
