I think the Honey Gem has spines that are more of a golden orange??

I’m only guessing but i think it might be a G. superb? there are hundreds of species and cultivars, of course. 🙂

  I agree. It really depends on the photo and the light. I may have to become a botanist or horticulturalist, or maybe just work voluntarily for the Botanic Gardens, hoping to glean some wisdom.
